A refreshing chilled hibiscus drink with citrus, mint, and natural sweetness for warm weather enjoyment.

# What You Need:

→ Tea Base

01 - 1/2 cup dried hibiscus flowers or 6 hibiscus tea bags
02 - 4 cups water

→ Flavor & Sweetening

03 - 1/4 cup honey or agave syrup, adjust to taste
04 - 1 orange, sliced
05 - 1 lemon, sliced
06 - 6-8 fresh mint sprigs

→ To Serve

07 - 2 cups ice cubes
08 - 1 cup cold water for dilution, optional
09 - Extra citrus slices and mint for garnish

# How To Make:

01 - Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan over high heat.
02 - Remove saucepan from heat and add hibiscus flowers or tea bags. Cover and let steep for 10 minutes to extract full flavor and vibrant color.
03 - Pour the steeped tea through a fine mesh strainer into a heatproof pitcher, discarding the used hibiscus flowers or tea bags.
04 - While tea is still warm, stir in honey or agave syrup until completely dissolved. Adjust sweetness to personal preference.
05 - Add orange and lemon slices along with mint sprigs to the pitcher. Allow mixture to cool to room temperature, approximately 20-30 minutes.
06 - Refrigerate the infused tea for at least 1 hour, or until thoroughly chilled. The flavor develops and intensifies during this time.
07 - Fill serving glasses with ice cubes. Pour chilled hibiscus tea over ice, adding extra cold water if a lighter flavor is desired. Garnish each glass with fresh citrus slices and mint sprigs.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The stunning ruby color makes every glass feel like a special occasion, even on random Tuesday afternoons
  • Perfectly balanced between tart and sweet, like summer captured in a pitcher
  • Ready in under 30 minutes but impressive enough for dinner parties
02 -
  • Hibiscus stains everything it touches, including countertops, clothing, and sometimes temporarily your fingers, so handle with the same care you would give beets or berries
  • The tea continues to steep as it sits with the citrus, so remove the fruit slices after a few hours if you prefer a lighter, less intense flavor
  • Agave dissolves more easily than honey in cold liquids, making it the better choice if you decide to sweeten after chilling
03 -
  • Rinse the dried hibiscus flowers quickly in cold water before brewing to remove any dust or sediment
  • Use a glass pitcher rather than plastic, as hibiscus can sometimes absorb flavors from containers
